Spring 2017 Collection Suiting Guide

suiting

We know that choosing the right suit for the occasion can be overwhelming. With so many styles, colors and fabrics, how do you know which is best? We broke down the Appaman 2017 Fine Tailoring Collection to offer some style tips and detailed descriptions of our spring and summer Mod Suits. Happy shopping!

Linen and linen blend suits are perfect for adding a laid-back, summery vibe to your look while still being appropriate for formal occasions. This classic warm weather fabric has a looser weave than other styles, allowing air to flow for a cool, comfortable fit. The matte (no shine) finish gives it the textured look of natural fibers. Available in Fog (100% linen) or Dusty Blue (linen blend).

Cotton suits are as comfortable as your favorite chinos. Cool, lightweight twill has a tight, flat weave with a matte finish and a comfortable fit. Ours comes in red, which is an awesome way to make a statement while keeping it casual. This is a great suit to re-style with your favorite old-school sneakers, and it’s versatile enough to pull into your early fall wardrobe. Looks great with black, white, and light blue.

This suit is formal, the pattern is traditional, but the look is far from stuffy. When styled with bright colors or pastel patterns, it takes a decidedly fashion-forward look. Prince of Wales, commonly known as Glen Plaid, is a box-like pattern consisting of light and dark contrasting fine lines, that is iconic enough to have been a regular featured as part of the James Bond wardrobe throughout the years. Our version incorporates blue and grey for a great spring-friendly look that’s sophisticated yet youthful.

bengal-stripe-appaman-boys-ss17-suiting-guide

We love the subtle elegance of the delicate Bengal Stripe: a crisp, lightweight cotton blend material woven with a narrow blue and white stripe pattern. Up close, it resembles seersucker, but with a much finer stripe. From a few steps back, it’s a gentle powder blue with a hint of texture. It’s a great option for a summertime formal occasion, so we made ours with shorts instead of pants. Looks great with a bow tie and a crisp white shirt.

seasonal-solids-appaman-boys-ss17-suiting-guide

For maximum versatility in spring & summer suiting, try a seasonal solid blue. The Mod Suit in Deep Cobalt (available with shorts or pants) is lighter and brighter than a traditional formal navy suit and is made from a matte finish breathable material that’s not much heavier than shirting fabric. Cobalt is one of our most popular choices this season and looks fantastic with almost any bold, bright pattern, soft pastel, or contrasting accessory.

Those who like our traditional mid/light weight semi-shine suiting will love the super sharp Mod Suit in Cool Blue. It’s a great choice for extra-special events like spring holidays (try a pastel tie for Easter photos) or weddings. Ringbearer suit, anyone?

December 9, 2016 in Appaman Style, Holiday Style, In the news, Star Style

Alright alright alright! Appaman hit the red carpet again at the December 4th premiere of Matthew McConaughey’s movie, Sing.

McConaughey’s wife, Camila Alves, posted an Instagram photo of the family meeting legend Stevie Wonder. Siblings Levi, Vida, and Livingston, who often coordinate style with their fashionable parents, all decided to match each other this time around! Each of the three kids is wearing their own version of a suit and bow tie combination. As always, we’re honored that they chose Appaman Fine Tailoring for such a wonderful occasion.

That’s a Wrap! Behind the Scenes at the Spring/Summer 2016 Photoshoot

June 1, 2015 in Appaman News, NYC

It’s that time of year: We’ve styled, shot, and wrapped yet another Appaman Spring/Summer collection. We have so much fun hanging out with our models and watching all of our hard work come to life on camera.

As always, it’s all hands on deck to make sure these busy few days run smoothly. It’s a challenge, and sometimes a bit hectic to keep all the clothes and kids where they need to be at the right time, but with a little teamwork and a whole lot of organization, we somehow manage to get it all done and have a good time.

We are really excited about some great new designs we have in store for our fans and wish we could show you more, but you’ll have to wait til Spring 2016 to see the full collection in stores. For now, here are a few behind the scenes photos of our recent shoot here in our Chrystie Street studio. Stay tuned til next spring!

Spring is here at Appaman

February 11, 2015 in Appaman News, New This Season

Hey, Appaman fans! We’re thrilled to announce the arrival of our brand new Spring 2015 collection, now available to shop on Appaman.com.  Though Punxatawney Phil, our nation’s favorite groundhog, has decided that we have a few more weeks of winter left, we’re too excited about our great, new warm weather styles to think too much about the chilly weather here in New York City.

We’d like to share a video with you that features some of our new styles, plus a preview of some late spring/early summer styles that are on their way (available next month). Shot on location in Brooklyn, NYC, with beautiful drone camerawork and direction from MCM Productions, we think it totally captures Appaman clothing worn for its primary purpose: playing and having fun.

Check out the full video below, or scroll down for highlights (more at the jump). Be sure not to miss the cameo by our furry mascot, Party Hat Husum!)

AppaMoms Roundup

April 23, 2014 in Press, Uncategorized

Our AppaMom featured bloggers have been hard at work adding their own spin to Appaman Spring/Summer 2014 style. Fine Tailoring, graphic tees, and fun accessories – you name it, they’ve styled it!

PopStreet Kidz

At PopStreet Kidz, Wynn experimented with layering and rolling the cuffs of his Skinny Twill Pants and Stanton Shorts to create his own tailored looks – from crisp and preppy and rock ‘n’ roll casual.

popstreet1appamom1-1024x852 appamom7-1024x682

We love the attention to detail here — whether it’s a smart cuff on the pants paired with a button-up shirt, or the pushed-up sleeves of the throwback Barracuda Jacket over a graphic henley tee, this mom and son team have put together a series of looks that looks cool and effortless. Check out their blog to see more personalized looks and ideas for mixing Appaman pieces into your wardrobe.

Stroller in the City

Next up is Stroller in the City, who opted to stylize a longtime Appaman fan favorite: the Mod Suit.

Sitc_1sitc2

Rocking the Mod Suit with a cotton Fisherman Cap, mirrored sunglasses, and tiger graphic shirt makes for a great combination of formal and casual. Model Ryder is on his second Mod Suit, and mom Brianne says, “Ry has worn this suit in so many ways… to a formal function with a button down and tie, just the jacket with jeans, just the pants…I wanted to showcase how this suit can be worn dressed down, we rolled up the sleeves to show off the Appaman signature logo and paired it with the Tiger Slub Tee rather than a tailored shirt.” See more photos here.

We love it!

Mom Generations

And finally, we have our girly look of the group! Nine month-old Victoria is our youngest featured model, sporting some pieces from Appaman’s girl collection over on Mom Generations.

momgeneration1momgeneration2

Going for the all-pink look, Victoria is wearing some of our favorite multi-purpose pieces that are available in mini sizes as well as big kid sizes. The Mermaid tee is a spring and summer staple that looks great with the Boardwalk Cardigan in the chilly weather. Girls of any age know that a skirt-and-legging combo like the Lexie Capri is comfy and functional.

We were glad to see Appaman Girl and Appaman Mini represented in Mom Generation’s house full of boys! For more photos, visit their site.
