Is there anything that says “Christmas in NYC” more than the Rockettes? Here is Appaman fan Tre Ryder, who played Ben in this year’s Radio City Music Hall’s Christmas Spectacular, strikes a pose outside his “office:”

Sibling style! We love the blue palette and cool-but-coordinated look that Jake Satow (in the Velvel Mod Suit) and his sister (in the Alaska Dress) were rocking this year:

And finally, for a laid-back, Laguna Beach twist on a Christmas card photo, ditch the shoes and head to the beach. Lydia McLaughlin‘s sons nailed this look in Appaman Mod Suits and Standard Shirts:

Appaman on the Orange Carpet

March 26, 2018 in Appaman News, Appaman Style, In the news, Press, Star Style

It’s the Nickelodeon’s night of nights, when all our favorite pint-sized stars dress in their finest to strut their stuff on the orange carpet. Here’s a round-up of our fave Appaman looks from the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

Parker Bates and Prestyn Bates

Appaman’s favorite brothers Parker Bates and Prestyn Bates were absolute stars on the Orange Carpet this weekend. Parker rocked it in our Mod Suit in Raspberry and Burger Tee, and styled the look with white sneakers and a casual rolled sleeve. E! Online LOVED his look.  Prestyn went in full-burger mode in our Burger Tee and Pattern Shirt with jeans and boots. Snap up these sharp orange carpet looks for yourself now – all styles still available online!

JD McCrary

Appaman fan favorite JD McCrary looked super fly in our Mod Suit in Navy Windowpane from FW17. JD is already a household name thanks to THAT performance with Childish Gambino at the Grammys, but he is set to be a worldwide star after landing the role of Young Simba in the upcoming film production of The Lion King. (Sidenote: there was huge excitement in the office when this film adaption was announced – Beyoncé as Nala? Yes, please.) JD styled the suit with white sneakers, a necklace and a casual white tee. The Mod Suit is no longer available in the Navy Windowpane option, but luckily we have a fresh spring update on the blue suit, the Mod Suit in French Blue, plus other Fine Tailoring looks to style your way. Like JD, you can style this with a tee and sneakers, or go formal with dress shoes, a shirt and bow tie.

Seth Carr

Seth Carr played the flashback version of Michael B. Jordon as a young Erik Killmonger in Marvel’s Black Panther – so you KNOW he’s set to be a huge star. The film just grossed over a billion dollars at the box office; and is breaking records left, right and center. We are so proud that Seth picked out our suit for the red carpet – we LOVE the styling with a casual stripe tee and rolled sleeves.

We got a shout out in one of our favorite fashion blogs, RACKED, in an article on shopping for fun and unique Kid’s clothing. It turns out that Anica John, CEO of Kid Things is a huge Appaman fan! She comments:

“I knew that I needed to get some brands that do boys’ clothes really well so it would be fun to shop for them.” She cites brands like Appaman and  as ones that carry more imaginative boys’ looks.”

Spring 2017 Collection Suiting Guide

March 25, 2017 in Appaman Style

suiting

We know that choosing the right suit for the occasion can be overwhelming. With so many styles, colors and fabrics, how do you know which is best? We broke down the Appaman 2017 Fine Tailoring Collection to offer some style tips and detailed descriptions of our spring and summer Mod Suits. Happy shopping!

linen-appaman-boys-ss17-suiting-guide

Linen and linen blend suits are perfect for adding a laid-back, summery vibe to your look while still being appropriate for formal occasions. This classic warm weather fabric has a looser weave than other styles, allowing air to flow for a cool, comfortable fit. The matte (no shine) finish gives it the textured look of natural fibers. Available in Fog (100% linen) or Dusty Blue (linen blend).

chino-appaman-boys-ss17-suiting-guide

Cotton suits are as comfortable as your favorite chinos. Cool, lightweight twill has a tight, flat weave with a matte finish and a comfortable fit. Ours comes in red, which is an awesome way to make a statement while keeping it casual. This is a great suit to re-style with your favorite old-school sneakers, and it’s versatile enough to pull into your early fall wardrobe. Looks great with black, white, and light blue.

prince-of-wales-appaman-boys-ss17-suiting-guide

This suit is formal, the pattern is traditional, but the look is far from stuffy. When styled with bright colors or pastel patterns, it takes a decidedly fashion-forward look. Prince of Wales, commonly known as Glen Plaid, is a box-like pattern consisting of light and dark contrasting fine lines, that is iconic enough to have been a regular featured as part of the James Bond wardrobe throughout the years. Our version incorporates blue and grey for a great spring-friendly look that’s sophisticated yet youthful.

bengal-stripe-appaman-boys-ss17-suiting-guide

We love the subtle elegance of the delicate Bengal Stripe: a crisp, lightweight cotton blend material woven with a narrow blue and white stripe pattern. Up close, it resembles seersucker, but with a much finer stripe. From a few steps back, it’s a gentle powder blue with a hint of texture. It’s a great option for a summertime formal occasion, so we made ours with shorts instead of pants. Looks great with a bow tie and a crisp white shirt.

seasonal-solids-appaman-boys-ss17-suiting-guide

For maximum versatility in spring & summer suiting, try a seasonal solid blue. The Mod Suit in Deep Cobalt (available with shorts or pants) is lighter and brighter than a traditional formal navy suit and is made from a matte finish breathable material that’s not much heavier than shirting fabric. Cobalt is one of our most popular choices this season and looks fantastic with almost any bold, bright pattern, soft pastel, or contrasting accessory.

Those who like our traditional mid/light weight semi-shine suiting will love the super sharp Mod Suit in Cool Blue. It’s a great choice for extra-special events like spring holidays (try a pastel tie for Easter photos) or weddings. Ringbearer suit, anyone?

December 9, 2016 in Appaman Style, Holiday Style, In the news, Star Style

Alright alright alright! Appaman hit the red carpet again at the December 4th premiere of Matthew McConaughey’s movie, Sing.

McConaughey’s wife, Camila Alves, posted an Instagram photo of the family meeting legend Stevie Wonder. Siblings Levi, Vida, and Livingston, who often coordinate style with their fashionable parents, all decided to match each other this time around! Each of the three kids is wearing their own version of a suit and bow tie combination. As always, we’re honored that they chose Appaman Fine Tailoring for such a wonderful occasion.

That’s a Wrap! Behind the Scenes at the Spring/Summer 2016 Photoshoot

June 1, 2015 in Appaman News, NYC

It’s that time of year: We’ve styled, shot, and wrapped yet another Appaman Spring/Summer collection. We have so much fun hanging out with our models and watching all of our hard work come to life on camera.

As always, it’s all hands on deck to make sure these busy few days run smoothly. It’s a challenge, and sometimes a bit hectic to keep all the clothes and kids where they need to be at the right time, but with a little teamwork and a whole lot of organization, we somehow manage to get it all done and have a good time.

We are really excited about some great new designs we have in store for our fans and wish we could show you more, but you’ll have to wait til Spring 2016 to see the full collection in stores. For now, here are a few behind the scenes photos of our recent shoot here in our Chrystie Street studio. Stay tuned til next spring!
