Appaman July/August Press Round-Up!

August 18, 2017 in Appaman News, Appaman Style, In the news, Press, Star Style

We are so excited here at Appaman to drop our amazing winter line next week. So, we thought we’d do a PRESS ROUND UP of all the places you might have seen Appaman’s  FW17 line out and about.

RACKED

We got a shout out in one of our favorite fashion blogs, RACKED, in an article on shopping for fun and unique Kid’s clothing. It turns out that Anica John, CEO of Kid Things is a huge Appaman fan! She comments:

“I knew that I needed to get some brands that do boys’ clothes really well so it would be fun to shop for them.” She cites brands like Appaman and Andy + Evan as ones that carry more imaginative boys’ looks.”

Never be lonely again with the all new Appaman Foldable Monkey!

Story time!

You may remember that Appaman, Inc. was inspired by and named after the childhood companion of our founder, Harald Husum. When Harald was a kid growing up in Norway, he had a stuffed corduroy monkey named Appaman (“monkey man” in Norwegian) who accompanied him on many fantastic adventures through the fields and fjords. The original Appaman now lives at Appaman HQ in NYC, and while he doesn’t go on as many adventures as he used to, he continues to inspire us, reminding us of the spirit of adventure and imagination of those youthful times.

Now, you can make your very own Appaman to accompany you on your adventures, wherever they may take you. And…it’s free! All you need is a printer, scissors, and either tape or glue. Download and print the PDF from appaman.com/foldable, cut out, and assemble your 3-D papercraft Appaman figure according to the included instructions. (Hey kids: Go wrangle yourself an adult to help with some of the trickier cuts, especially if you print it on heavy paper)

For a limited time we’re including one paper foldable, pre-printed in full color on glossy cardstock, in every Appaman.com order. This special thank you gift for our customers is ready for you to cut, fold, glue, and — most importantly — play with!

Don’t forget to share your adventures with us! We’d love to document all the shenanigans that Appaman is getting into all over the world. Take a photo of your paper Appaman, post it on Instagram, tag us (@appaman) and hashtag your photo #appamanfoldable. Be sure to tell us where he is!

McConaughey Family Meets Stevie Wonder in Appaman Fine Tailoring

December 9, 2016 in Appaman Style, Holiday Style, In the news, Star Style

Alright alright alright! Appaman hit the red carpet again at the December 4th premiere of Matthew McConaughey’s movie, Sing.

McConaughey’s wife, Camila Alves, posted an Instagram photo of the family meeting legend Stevie Wonder. Siblings Levi, Vida, and Livingston, who often coordinate style with their fashionable parents, all decided to match each other this time around! Each of the three kids is wearing their own version of a suit and bow tie combination. As always, we’re honored that they chose Appaman Fine Tailoring for such a wonderful occasion.

For more photos of the premiere and the McConoughey-Alves family’s awesome red carpet looks, visit Just Jared.

The Asbjørnsen Family Goes ‘Round The World With Appaman

June 9, 2015 in In the news, Press

We have a great story to share about some of Appaman’s biggest little fans.

Norwegian dad Ørjan Tunge Asbjørnsen and his wife, Kristine Noraas Asbjørnsen, have set off on a year-long journey around the world with their six sons, Kristian, 9, Joakim, 8,  Aleksander, 7, Fredrik, 4, Daniel, 2, and Marius, 1. They’ve begun in North America, first visiting Florida and the Caribbean before heading to California, with plans that include Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia, Bali, Singapore, various countries in Europe, and maybe even a trip to Africa.

And as if that feat alone weren’t impressive enough, they’re doing it all in style — all six boys dress in matching head-to-toe Appaman! Ørjan is a longtime fan of our brand (in fact, he is the one responsible for first bringing Appaman to the Norwegian retail scene), so it was only natural that when packing their bags with durable, fashionable and functional clothing, in sizes that would fit every kid, our clothes made the cut.

During a stop in Los Angeles, writer Silje Kathrine Sviggum met up with the crew and interviewed them for Norway’s Bergen Tidende, where they’ve shared the details of their route, future plans, favorite places so far, and tips for how a family of 8 can travel extensively while actually enjoying each other’s company.

Check out more photos after the jump. For the full collection (and an article in Norwegian), click here.

We love to see our fans get creative when styling our Mod Suits, Suit Pants, Standard Shirts, and other pieces from our Fine Tailoring line. Worn casual with kicks and graphic tees, or dressed up for a stylish and comfortable ring bearer look for a wedding, there seems to be a suit for every occasion.

Kickin’ it Old School at Small Fry

Remember when tin can stilts, dominoes, and marbles weren’t overshadowed by DVRs and iPads? Over at Small Fry, they sure do, and our Baseball Henley in and Gym Sweats (below, in Firebrick) were featured in an awesome “Throwback Tuesday” post. Click on over to check out some great ideas for old-school games and toys to introduce to your kids, as well more gorgeous photos of our retro threads.

 Love from Estella

Estella is a longtime favorite shop for the most fashionable kids in NYC and beyond. In addition to a great selection of quality kids’ clothing (Including yours truly! Not that we’re biased…), you can get the inside scoop and find great fashion/gift ideas on their blog.

So, of course, we were stoked to hear their thoughts on this season’s collection:

Appaman has released photos of its fall 2013 collection and, per usual, it is full of street-smart pieces that are comfortable, practical, and ultra cool. This season’s collection pays homage to iconic American style with vintage varsity jackets, prep school basics, and punk-inspired plaid. As always, the line manages to bring a hint of the founder’s unique Scandinavian perspective into its clothing to create truly one-of-a-kind pieces with tons of street-cred. Whether your kids are at school, heading to practice, or hanging out with friends, Appaman’s pieces allow your kids to discover and explore their own personal style. What’s better than that?

Thanks for the love! Right back at ya.

LilSugar

Always in-the-know LilSugar had great things to say about our  Fall jackets and coats:

As usual, the line’s outerwear is the star of the show with fabulous varsity bomber jackets; puffy, motorcycle-inspired vests; and the boy’s band-inspired Route 1 jacket that he’ll be begging to wear even before the weather turns cool.

Above (L to R, top to bottom): Varsity Jacket in Fire Brick, Argyle Pullover in Pacific Blue, Baseball Henley in Fire Brick, Carroll Shift Dress in Poppy, Route 1 Jacket in Black, Bulldog Tee in Snow, Hoodie Dress in Carnation, Sidecar Tee in Fire Brick, Hooded Henley in Pacific Blue.

Visit Appaman.com to check out the outerwear collections for boys (including the Route 1 Jacket, above center) and for girls.
