An Appaman Baby Shower

May 9, 2017 in Appaman News, Appaman Style, DIY

Appaman HQ loves to celebrate, and what better occasion than a new baby?

Operations Manager Alyssa is expecting her first child, and with her due date right around the corner, we gathered the staff and headed to Brooklyn for a garden party baby shower at Lynn & Harald’s house.

We even had a special surprise guest (former Appaman staffer Jenna) fly in from Texas for the occasion!

We had a wonderful time stepping outside the office and celebrating a smart and dedicated woman who works so hard to make sure that Appaman is the best that it can be.

How does Team Appaman throw a baby shower? Check out our party details and more photos after the jump…

Food: We had a mix of Mediterranean, Italian, and Asian inspired snacks and hors d’oeuvres from a local caterer that accommodated vegan and non-vegan appetites. The range of light and healthy options along with some heartier, more indulgent dishes was perfect for a long, leisurely afternoon that left no guest even mildly hungry. Savory choices included chicken or vegan lettuce wraps, dumplings, fresh and roasted veggies, fantastic spreads like hummus, peanut sauce, and baba ganoush, crostini with fresh local burrata and fruit preserves, plus a cheese and charcuterie tray. We all went back for seconds…and thirds…maybe fourths.

For dessert, we had flourless chocolate cake, maple cupcakes, apple mascarpone upside down muffins, and fresh berries.

Decor: Grey and yellow themed decor was perfect for a springtime, gender-neutral event, plus it complemented the beautiful green plants and bright spring flowers that had just bloomed. A few oversized, confetti-filled balloons added another colorful touch to the garden.

Extra fun: We didn’t really need any planned activities, but we had two Instax cameras that got passed around. In a world of digital everything, analog photography is a fun, tangible throwback that everyone wanted to get their hands on and try for themselves.
