Five Weeks of Giving – Coalition of Immokalee Workers

January 7, 2015 in Appaman News

Jenna has chosen Coalition of Immokalee Workers (CIW) as the organization to benefit from her Five Weeks of Giving contribution.

This is a worker-based human rights organization recognized for its achievements in the fields of social responsibility, human trafficking and gender-based violence at work.   The CIW launched the very successful Fair Food Program that works to ensure rights for farmworkers.

Farm labor exploitation is prevalent in this country and it’s something that should change if we want to continue to benefit from local farms and healthy food.

Will says:

“Last year my dog (Khan Herrera) passed away. This special hospital went far and beyond in helping my wife and I, from the birth of our dog all the way till the time of his passing.”

Will is donating this gift in memory of Khan. The hospital was very touched to hear of this gift and plan to use the money for animals in need that don’t have necessary funds to treat their conditions.
